The Apprentice Roadworker programme for 2025 has now closed, the scheme is scheduled to reopen in 2027.

Our Apprentice Roadworker programme is a great opportunity for anyone interested in pursuing a career in the construction industry.

As an Apprentice Roadworker you will be employed on a 2-year fixed term contract, working 37 hours per week. Over the two years, you will work within our construction division learning all aspects of the role, and study and obtain a 'Level 5 Construction Operations and Civil Engineering Services (Construction) Highway Maintenance' qualification.

You do not need previous knowledge in construction to apply for this post. However, you should have:

  • An interest in pursuing a career in the construction industry
  • A willingness to undertake a 2 year course
  • An awareness of Health & Safety
  • The ability to achieve the necessary Core Skills and Vocational Qualifications within the set training schedule
  • A willingness to obtain a Construction Skills Certificate Scheme (CSCS) Apprentice Card
  • A Category B Driving Licence or commitment to work towards obtaining Category B Driving Licence. Please note that this is not funded by Tayside Contracts

Locations

We operate across Tayside, therefore have depots in Angus, Dundee and Perth & Kinross. You can complete your apprenticeship at any of the following locations:

  • π——π˜‚π—»π—±π—²π—²: Fairmuir Depot
  • π—£π—²π—Ώπ˜π—΅ & π—žπ—Άπ—»π—Ώπ—Όπ˜€π˜€: Aberfeldy Deport, Blairgowrie Depot and Ruthvenfield Depot (Perth)

Over the two years, you will complete a range of on-site assessments.
