Our purpose is to ensure sound financial governance within Tayside Contracts. Encompassing Finance, Procurement, Property and Stores, we process income and expenditure transactions efficiently with the relevant controls, provide support and information to the operational divisions by providing quality management information to allow effective decision making, provide a robust procurement process to ensure best value for the organisation and track and maintain organisation assets. We work with internal and external auditors to continually review and improve processes across the organisation.
We work collaboratively with the operational teams, suppliers, and customers:
Finance - providing financial information in the form of budgets, forecasting, monthly accounts, cashflows and, regular and ad hoc reports to our partners. Working closely with suppliers and customers to ensure efficient processing of invoices to improve cashflow.
Procurement - Tendering and procurement advice, supplier relations, negotiating frameworks, working with and through Scotland Excel with government approved suppliers and agreements.
Property - required maintenance, services and certification for our buildings throughout Tayside.
Stores – efficient stock control at the 3 warehouse sites to have available materials when required by the operations teams.

The role of the IT Section is to provide a fully comprehensive support, maintenance, installation and advice service for all aspects of IT across the organisation. The service covers the full range of network, data, voice and mobile technology in use at various locations throughout Tayside including our HQ, WAN-connected satellite depots and council properties where Tayside Contracts staff are based.
The service provides support to all users and is the first point of contact for all IT related matters ranging from first-line user support to major installations/upgrades and managed projects.
A key objective of the IT Section is to ensure that the organisation has an IT Infrastructure and hardware/software estate that is fit for purpose and allows front line, support services and management to operate effectively and efficiently.
The service also includes the full range of data and network security, database administration, data/system backup and recovery and provides advice and recommendations on new and emerging technology where they would be of benefit to the organisation.

The HR Services team provide a comprehensive professional service to managers and employees across our operational areas in Angus, Dundee and Perth and Kinross. The HR Services team recognise the importance of maintaining confidentiality, sharing knowledge and working towards Tayside Contracts vision of ‘becoming a high performing and expanding shared service: proud of what we do and chosen for how we do it’. The team provide guidance and support relating to all HR topics including, but not limited to, policies and procedures, pay and conditions of service, local and national agreements, employment legislation and recruitment.
The Business Support team provides a comprehensive business systems and administrative support service which greatly benefits all managers, employees and job applicants.
The Business Support team features:
Payroll Team – pays out over £50m per year to our 3,000 postholders, which greatly enhances community wealth and supports local businesses across Tayside.
HR Admin Team – process over 3,000 job applications per year and input thousands of data entries into our computerised HR system, which provides high quality management information at the touch of button.
Training Admin Support Team – provides our Training Team with the admin support required to deliver over 6,000 training occasions each year.
Construction Admin Support Team – processes job costing data which is vital to the cost-efficient running of the Construction Division’s £51m turnover business activities.
Facilities Services Admin Support Team – provides essential admin support to managers, supervisors and clients of our Facilities Services Division.
The Business Support Section also works tirelessly and innovatively on continuously improving systems and processes which has enabled Tayside Contracts to achieve millions of pounds of efficiencies over recent years.
The Safety and Training team is a one stop shop with a dedicated team of professionals determined to improve performance and reduce risk. The Safety and Training team has exceptional knowledge and experience in all aspects of health, safety and employee development. The team provides health and safety advice and employee training in all areas of the organisation to ensure we meet our regulatory, mandatory and business compliance requirements.
