The provision of a new spine road through Whitfield from Lothian crescent to Summerfield Avenue starts Monday 30th August. The scheme will be 26 weeks long and the overall cost will be in the region of £2.65m.
During the works some pedestrian access will be restricted along the old cycle track, these locations will be signed with alternative routes to allow safe passage for pedestrians.
This scheme is being run as a lean project under the NEC conditions of contract meaning a partnership between Dundee City Council, Tayside Contracts and Kilmac leading to a more efficient and greener way to provide the public with the final project.
This will in part be achieved by extensive use of recycled materials including Baldovie Ash within the blacktop construction.
An ongoing programme of liaison with the local community and schools will keep residents abreast of the progress of the works and allowing feedback to the client (DCC) and contractor (TC).
