Award for Catering Excellence, Primary Team of the Year

This award goes to a team who have demonstrated a high level of enthusiasm, initiative, commitment and effort and have implemented activities to increase awareness of, or support the school’s food service. The award is for a team who have maintained a consistent professional standard in their day to day work.

Finalists
Craigowl Primary School, Dundee – Linda, Cook in Charge, and her team at Craigowl Primary are worthy of recognition for their collective and individual contributions towards the catering service provision to pupils and staff at the school and for their involvement in activities that benefit the continuous development and improvement of the wider school meal service. The team always pull together to deliver and efficient and enjoyable meal experience for their customers and never lose sight of the fact that the meal experience has to be fun for the customer.


New Hills Primary School, Perth & Kinross – the team at New Hills primary works well on all levels with an entirely new set up since last year. Fiona and her team understand that good marketing is the essence of greater business. Pupils, teachers and supervisory staff are incorporated in Fiona’s marketing days. These have included Fruity Fridays, Teddy Bear Picnics, Disney themed days and many more, which encourage children to come to lunch and educate them in nutrition.


Whitehills Primary School, Angus – Linda is the Cook in Charge and, along with her team at Whitehills, manages a slick operation where they produce meals for three dining centres. Linda and her team have developed and managed to work very closely with all four schools and have created a genuine working partnership. The team are very reliable, enthusiastic and very committed at all times and consistently raise the bar to promote and develop the school meal service.

Winner – Craigowl Primary School, Dundee. The Craigowl catering team embrace the concept of a ‘whole school approach’ with enthusiasm, working in close partnership with the school staff to promote health and well-being through the school meal service. Linda works very closely with the ‘Eating for Health’ Assistant to promote school lunches and is always on hand to answer any questions the children may have about school dining. The team have set the bar in terms of customer care and although they are very busy they take the time to talk to the children and they firmly believe that a happy customer is a returning customer.
