Award for Rising Star, Personal Improvement.

This award, for which nominations were sought from all employees of Tayside Contracts, is for an individual who has shown exceptional personal development in developing their skills and knowledge, exceeding the expectations of their manager, supervisor or colleagues, demonstrated an outstanding ability to collaborate and co-operate with others.

Finalists
Scott Banks, Construction Dundee – Scott has continued to grow and develop as part of the roads maintenance team and actively contributes to the improvement of the service. Scott has played an active role in the implementation of business improvement techniques and has been leading his team in various improvement initiatives, ensuring they are rolled out to front-line operatives.

Alison Gallacher, Procurement – Alison is a well organised individual who delivers every time and on time. She has contributed further to the building of very strong supplier partnerships. Alison has also built up great confidence with our clients and has excellent working relationships with managers and their teams.

Tracy Hannan, Catering Perth & Kinross – Tracy is an extremely talented school cook, whose enthusiasm and drive has shown a dramatic uptake of meals at Breadalbane Academy. Tracy’s friendly, positive and outgoing approach has brought a very happy atmosphere to the workplace where she gets the best from her kitchen staff.

Avril Forbes, Cleaning Dundee – Avril works within the Grove Academy cluster of schools. She works extremely well under pressure and remains enthusiastic and helpful at all times. Avril prioritises and manages her work schedule extremely well, handling and dealing with requests or complaints promptly and efficiently.

Winner – Alison Gallacher, Procurement. Alison has an acute understanding of her customer’s needs. Her approach and attention to detail are beyond reproach, she is at all times courteous and deals with everything with true professionalism.

TEA Awards - Finalists and Winners

The 2010 awards ceremony was attended by almost four hundred nominees, employees, sponsors and guests, which included members of the Tayside Contracts Joint Committee and representatives from Angus, Dundee City and Perth and Kinross Councils, Tayside Police and Tayside Fire and Rescue. The evening was sponsored by over forty of our suppliers and business partners and the awards were presented by Sally Magnusson of BBC Scotland.

The feedback from employees and sponsors who attended the 2010 event was overwhelmingly positive. People said “This has been fantastic!” … “I never thought it would be like this” … “It was like watching an Awards night on TV” … “A very professionally presented evening that my company would be keen to sponsor again” … “The atmosphere and build up was electric, we didn’t win, but we’ll be back again next year!”

During the evening the tables were provided with an envelope for charity donations and £2,000 was raised to be split evenly between CHAS, Rachel House, Kinross and Maggie’s Centre, Dundee.

The winners were decided by a judging panel, comprising Councillor Bob Myles, Convener of Tayside Contracts Joint Committee and Vice-Convenors, Councillor Jack Coburn and Councillor David Bowes and chaired by Iain Waddell, Managing Director. The judging panel were very impressed by the standard of nominations received for all the awards.
