Award for Construction – Outstanding Contribution to the Environment

This award goes to a squad or work group with the overall best performance in achieving or exceeding annual fuel consumption targets and an overall best performance in vehicle cleanliness.

Finalists
Trevor Meldrum, Angus – Trevor works in Street Lighting maintenance and carries out running repairs and replacements throughout Angus, meaning he covers a high number of miles over the course of a year. Vehicles covering those kinds of distances are not easy to keep clean, but Trevor’s vehicle is the exception, the vehicle is spotless both inside and out. Trevor scored the highest mileage per gallon over the whole of the Angus fleet.

Dave Mudie, Dundee – Dave operates a small tower wagon, which is used to access lighting columns in and around Dundee. It has been noted through the fuel consumption achieved that Dave has taken on board the need to make efficiencies through the organisation and, in particular, the highlighted area for fuel efficiency savings. Dave’s vehicle is well maintained, both inside and out.

Iain Morrison, Perth & Kinross – Iain is the leading candidate for the Perth & Kinross area. He is focused on looking after his vehicle – he is a gully emptier, so keeping the vehicle to a high standard of cleanliness can be very challenging. Iain’s vehicle is a single-person operation and he has full responsibility on how the vehicle is driven, operated and maintained.

Winner – Dave Mudie, Dundee. Dave had the highest combined score for the environmental award. Of the fifteen vehicles and drivers nominated Dave had by far the best performing vehicle fuel record. This can be attributed to a number of things, but the most important is the way the vehicle is driven.
