Tayside Contracts win Silver at LACA Awards

Tay Cuisine Baker Scott Shaw was credited with a Silver Award for his Disney Character themed entry to the 2009 LACA 'Finishing Touches' competition in the Decorated Novelty Cake Category.

Finishing Touches, is a static culinary display salon organised by the Local Authority Caterers Association (LACA) in conjunction with the Craft Guild of Chefs.

The competition is aimed at all levels of staff employed in any aspect of local authority catering capable of creating excellent craft pieces. It provides entrants with the opportunity to show off skills which would not normally be seen during their everyday profession.

The judging criteria is set by the Craft Guild of Chefs with senior members judging the submitted works. Competition entries were displayed at the Hilton Birmingham Metropole from Wednesday 8th August 2009 with judging results made public the following day.

Judges commented on the extremely high standard of entrants stating that the bar has been raised year on year since the competition began with some entries as good any international competition.

This is only Scotts second entry to this national competition with this year seeing him improve on his Distinction of last year. The competition trail doesn't end there though as Scott has already set his sights on improving his position yet again next year and will be 'Going for Gold' in 2010.

Whatever the outcome at next years event, we are all extremely proud of Scott's Silver Award for his 2009 Entry.
