Alison Sinclair has reached the final of the School Chef of the Year 2009.
The North East and Scotland regional final of the School Chef of the Year Competition organized by the local Authority Caterers Association (LACA) took place on Friday 6th February 2009 at the Metropolitan College, Tyne and wear. Tayside Contracts was represented by Alison Sinclair, Cook in Charge at Inchture Primary School, (winner of Tayside Contracts School Chef of the Year 2008 competition).
All contestants produced a two course meal in 1.5 hours within the required nutrient standards, at a cost of 1.10 per person. The judging panel included a LACA member, a local chef, a dietician and one 11year old boy and girl from a local Primary School.
The chair of judges complimented each contestant on their high standards of hygiene, organizational and cooking skills and the excellent quality of food that was produced. Alison's innovative skills and flare were rewarded when she was announced the winner of the Regional Final for 2009.
Alison impressed the judges with campfire sausages and creamed potatoes with carrot diamonds & broccoli spears, and for dessert, strawberry & oatmeal shortbread served with a mini raspberry sundae. The Catering Team are delighted and very proud of Alison's achievements and we wish her every success in the National School Chef of the Year final which will take place in May in Sheffield.
This is the fourth ocassion that Tayside Contracts has reached reach the National Final having taken first prize in 2005, runner-up in 2000 and being highly commended in 2008.
